David Gordon Quoted inĀ Corporate Counsel

February 15, 2022

MSK Partner David Gordon was quoted in Corporate Counsel's article, "'Rippling Effect' of Pay-Transparency Laws to Test Legal Departments," published on February 15, 2022. The article discusses New York City's recently enacted pay transparency law which requires employers to include salary ranges in job postings.

From the article...

"And while the scope of New York City’s law is not yet clear—to date, the text of the legislation is only three sentences long and will likely be clarified by The New York City Commission on Human Rights, the city organization responsible for enforcing discrimination rules—legal departments with certain ties to New York City should be careful if they want to steer clear of trouble, said David Gordon, a partner at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp. 'If the employer and the employee are both within the boundaries of New York City, that’s clear cut,' he explained. 'But if one of them is outside New York City, then you have to decide whether or not you think the law applies. To be conservative, you probably would have to act as if it does.'"
