Associate – Labor & Employment
We are seeking a mid to senior Labor and Employment Associate with 5+ years of employment and traditional labor experience for the Los Angeles office. Our Labor and Employment Department consists of over 20 full time Labor and Employment attorneys. The successful candidate must have excellent analytical and writing skills, substantial experience handling employment litigation, including single-plaintiff and class action cases, and experience advising clients on day-to-day employment issues. Outstanding academic credentials are required.
Salary range: $250,000-$280,000. Compensation is based on experience, skill, and knowledge.

Marketing Coordinator or Assistant

Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing, you will interface and support attorneys as they develop their business. It is near impossible to describe any two days as the same in this dynamic environment.
Salary range: $45,000-$58,000. Compensation is based on experience, skill, and knowledge.
Job responsibilities include:
While adaptability and creativity are required for success due to the ever-changing litany of opportunities presenting our Firm and its attorneys, certain aspects of the job could be described as repetitive and common throughout your day, including but not limited to:
- Prepare customized collateral material, including client proposals and firm brochures, for new business pitches and presentations.
- Maintain the firm’s mailing lists.
- Creatively write, design, and distribute firm alerts, announcements, invitations and advertisements.
- Coordinate client programs, including managing registration; arranging facilities, catering and tech support; preparing PowerPoint presentations and handout materials; providing guest reception; and facilitating attorney follow-up.
- Assist in updating the firm website and various marketing materials, in Word and on the firm’s website.
- Assist with directory updates and attorney ranking submissions.
- Collect and archive representative matters, industry experience, speaking engagements and client lists.
- Plan, implement and execute all aspects of marketing and business development events.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree plus at least two years of marketing or business development experience in a professional services field is required; law firm experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) is required; proficiency with Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Suite, and Adobe InDesign is required; graphic design/page layout and print experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize, re-prioritize, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Superior writing, proofreading and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to be flexible and use common sense in solving problems; a team player.
Secretary – Trusts & Estates Litigation
Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, a mid-sized law firm with offices in Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington D.C., has an immediate opening for a Legal Administrative Assistant in its Los Angeles office.
This position will entail supporting 3 - 4 busy attorneys in the Firm’s Trusts and Estates and Tax Practice Groups. The ideal candidate would have experience in the areas of estate planning, probate, trust administration, tax, and estate and trust litigation.
Salary range: $70,000-$85,000. Compensation is based on experience, skill, and knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Organizes and sends out large amount of documents (estate plans, trust administration documents, and correspondence/packages to taxing authorities).
- Support attorneys with Trust and Estate litigation, including filing and e-fling documents with the courts.
- Assures that documents are properly scanned and saved into document management system.
- Conducts conflict checks for prospective matters, prepares client engagement agreements and conflict waivers, and submits new client forms into accounting system.
- Creates and edits drafts of documents using the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Answers incoming telephone calls in a timely and professional manner and communicates an accurate message on behalf of the caller.
- Arranges meetings and schedules appointments; opens, sorts and distributes mail.
- Notarizes documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree required.
- A minimum of 2 years of legal secretarial experience. Proficiency in trusts and estates and tax terminology and procedures is preferred.
- A minimum of 2+ years of litigation secretarial experience with proficiency in litigation terminology and procedures including state court filing and e-filing procedures is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and written and verbal communication skills required.
- Must be an energetic self-starter who is enthusiastic about performing and learning varied support tasks.
- Must be proficient in Windows and with Microsoft Office including MS Word and Outlook.
- Accurate typing skills of 65+ wpm.
- California notary (or willingness to become a California notary) required. Firm pays expenses of establishing or renewing notary status.
- Must be enthusiastic about performing and learning varied litigation support tasks.
