MSK Launches Its New Trusts & Estates Blog

May 27, 2014

Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp (MSK) has launched a Trusts & Estates blog to spotlight important issues and legal developments in the areas of trust and estate. Written by the firm’s trusts and estates planning attorneys, the blog’s theme is based on a 1789 letter written by Benjamin Franklin that stated “Nothing is said to be certain except death and taxes.”

“The maxims are equally resonant today, highlighting the need to obtain sage counsel regarding, and keen insight, into planning for certainties of death and taxes,” says Seth W. Krasilovsky, partner in the firm’s Trusts and Estates group and editor of the new blog. “With the launch of the blog, we will address significant developments and issues and/or concerns to our clients.”

The blog speaks to individuals, families and business owners who are often faced with complex tax and estate planning issues during their lifetime or after death. For example, Karl de Costa blogs about the importance of pre-death planning to minimize estate tax liability. In separate blog posts, Jeffrey Davine warns readers about the risks involved in using external payroll vendors, and David Wheeler Newman discusses the preliminary draft of a shorter application for tax exemption of charitable organizations issued by the IRS.
