So Close, No Matter How Far: Emulators & Unofficial Servers

Games Industry Law Summit Vilnius 2024

Vilnius, Lithuania
September 4, 2024

Mark Humphrey is speaking on the panel, "So Close, No Matter How Far: Emulators & Unofficial Servers" at the 2024 Games industry Law Summit in Vilnius on September 4, 2024.

About the panel...

Communities are at the core of our industry: passionate people who spread the word around and help dev teams improve their products. The same communities, though, sometimes engage in activities that are out of control for the IP owner – rebooting old games on different platforms, and creating unapproved modifications, and even unauthorized servers. The session looks at the extent to which we can we control such actions, and at how to balance the benefits and the risks of unauthorized use of IP.

Games Industry Law Summit is the invitation-only conference for games industry’s top legal professionals, curated by a collaborative community from 56 different countries.
