Remaster and Recreate?

Mondo.NYC 2016

New York University: Kimmel Center Rosenthal Pavilion
September 16, 2016
1:30 - 2:30 PM (EDT)

Christine Lepera and Jay Rosenthal will be speaking on a panel, "Remaster and Recreate?" at the 2016 Mondo.NYC annual business summit, festival and digital platform bringing together music, technology and innovation in the most vibrant city in the world. Mondo launches September 14-18, 2016 in New York City with a business summit hosted at New York University and live music showcases presented at venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn. At Mondo.NYC, music fans, artists, tech pioneers and entertainment professionals converge to celebrate music, technology and the entertainment industry.

This session will discuss the implications of the ABS Entertainment v. CBS Corp. ruling and its impact on the music industry. The panel will discuss the ruling in its entirety on how it granted copyright to remastered versions of old songs, is incredibly far reaching and could completely upend much of the legal thinking relating to ownership and creation of sound recordings, who the “author” of a work is, termination rights, and more.
