MSK Hot Topic on Capital Formation with Featured Speaker Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI)

MSK's New York Office
December 15, 2015
5:30 pm

The legislative atmosphere for capital formation continues to be a hot topic in our country. New ideas like the formation of the Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation at the SEC or modifications to tick size are percolating their way through Washington, D.C. Additionally, recently enacted regulations, such as Regulation Crowdfunding and Regulation A+ are leading to significant opportunities for small businesses and new ventures to access additional capital.

Led by our moderator, Melanie Figueroa, we will explore these issues with two renowned professionals, David Weild and Nimish Patel, along with our featured speaker (via videoconference), Congressman Sean Duffy (R-WI).

David Weild, considered the "father" of the 2012 JOBS Act, is formerly Vice Chairman of NASDAQ. His studies have highlighted the need for equity market reform to Congress, the SEC, the G-20, the OECD, FESE and recently, the Budapest Economic Forum. Mr. Weild is now Chairman of Weild & Co., the firm developing and applying technologies to help investment banks and corporate issuers improve the distribution and support of their new issue equities. Nimish Patel, currently Vice Chairman of MSK, contributed in shaping the JOBS Act of 2012. He has had a long and storied career in corporate securities as a lawyer, investor, and advisor to countless emerging growth companies. Mr. Patel merged his firm, Richardson & Patel, with MSK in July 2015.
