Origins, Evolution, and Possible Futures of the 1976 Copyright Act
MSK Partner, Eric Schwartz will speak as a panelist at the Kernochan Center Annual Symposium, "The 1976 Copyright Act," at Columbia Law School on October 23, 2026.
About the panel...
Marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Copyright Act of 1976, this joint symposium of Columbia Law School's Kernochan Center for Law, Media and the Arts and the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology examines how the Act has interacted with public and private institutions — Congress, the Copyright Office, the judiciary, and private ordering — and how copyright law might be reformed to meet the challenges posed by new technologies, most pressingly artificial intelligence. Essays from the Columbia event will be published in the Columbia Journal of Law & the Arts.
