Nonprofit Industry Veteran joins Nonprofit Industry Powerhouse

June 20, 2016

MSK proudly announced today that after decades representing non-profit organizations on a broad variety of matters ranging from tax planning and complex gift agreements to governance, mergers and executive compensation, David Wheeler Newman joined the Board of Directors of the California Community Foundation (CCF), the 2nd oldest and 4th largest community foundation in the United States. As a nationally recognized attorney and chair of the charitable sector practice for MSK, and bringing with him robust and impressive expertise, David’s election to the Board of this prestigious billion dollar organization is a major milestone in his long and storied career.

Aligning with their culture of community stewardship for Los Angeles County, David exudes excellence in governance and fiduciary responsibility which are representative hallmarks of CCF. With years of representing notable names in the world of non-profits, David brings valuable insight to the operational demands of a large and complex organization like CCF. Supporting health, education, housing & economic opportunity, social justice, civic engagement and nonprofit sustainability, CCF has an unprecedented commitment to the community of Los Angeles and will be valuably served by David’s background.

“Their reach and impact on the Los Angeles community is incomparable to anything else that exists,” said Mr. Newman. “As a third generation Angeleno, it is a true privilege to join the 100 year legacy of an organization I have long admired, and I look forward to contributing in a variety of ways,” stated Mr. Newman in closing.

“We are extremely proud of David’s recognition in being asked to join an organization of such prestige,” stated MSK Chairman Kevin Gaut. “Having David as a partner of our firm has always been a source of pride because of his remarkable professional reputation and this honor only expounds that pride,” said Mr. Gaut in closing.
