Harold ("Hal") Friedman was featured in the article, "Mitchell Silberberg Partner Awarded For WWII Service," published by Law360 on December 13, 2024.

Hal was awarded with the French Legion of Honor medal, the highest decoration in France, in a ceremony held at MSK's Los Angeles on December 12, 2024. The French Consul General extended the honor on behalf of the President of France in recognition of Hal’s service in WWII, where he fought and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, and was among the first American soldiers to enter the Mauthausen Concentration Camp in Austria. The occasion also celebrated Hal's 100th birthday.

Hal Friedman has been a valued member of the MSK family for seven decades, and as the last remaining partner to have worked directly with MSK’s founders—Shepard Mitchell, Mendel Silberberg, and Guy Knupp—he truly embodies the firm’s history and commitment to excellence.

From the article...

"I was overwhelmed," Friedman said of his reaction to hearing that he was to receive the award. He added, "There's nothing wrong with helping people who need help. That's my job as a lawyer, too … If you do the right thing, maybe something good will happen."
