"Law firms aren't retreating from the DEI space but are using different language to describe initiatives, and setting different parameters for their success, in the wake of anti-affirmative action litigation and a shift in the political environment, a leading practitioner says. They are also tapping into a desire from corporate clients to adapt their DEI initiatives to withstand the changing legal landscape.
Iveliz Crespo, appointed in March to the new role of director of DEI and Talent Development at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, said that diversity and inclusion practitioners had witnessed a 'rethinking and retooling' in the wake of these shifts, something Crespo said was not necessarily 'a bad thing.'"
