MSK Mentioned in The American Lawyer and Law.com for Their Efforts in Honoring the Heather Heyer Foundation

August 28, 2017

Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP was mentioned in the article, "Heather Heyer's Law Firm Starts Foundation in Her Honor," published by The American Lawyer on August 28, 2017. The story was also published by Law.com. The publications mentioned MSK for their efforts in honoring Heather Heyer by shedding light on the newly formed Heather Heyer Foundation. The foundation will provide scholarships to individuals committed to seeking positive social change in and around the legal profession.

In the days following the clashes in Charlottesville on August 12, 2017, many law firms issued statements condemning the violence and reaffirming their commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion. MSK reached out to the Miller Law Group, where Heyer had worked for five years as a paralegal, and learned about the firm’s plans to start an organization in her name.

Gregory Olaniran, co-chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, is quoted in the article saying, “We just had a desire to do more than simply issue a statement condemning all of the really unfortunate events that took place that weekend."
