Howard Shapiro Quoted in Compliance Week

Immigration partner Howard Shapiro is quoted in "Immigration Crackdown Equals Compliance Headaches" in the September 9 issue of Compliance Week. With increased government scrutiny into the legal status of employees, Mr. Shapiro admonishes employers to become more vigilant in their compliance procedures. As long as employers complete the vetting process properly, they will not be charged with knowingly employing someone illegally. However, if an employer processes a worker's documentation improperly, a series of technical violation fines can result.
