Public Counsel Honors MSK Attorney Daniel Hayes for Pro Bono Success

June 29, 2009

Daniel Hayes was honored by Public Counsel in 2009 for leading our litigation team to an astounding success on behalf of an elderly client who fell victim to con artists promising to do construction on her house while, in fact, swindling her out of her home. They arranged a loan in the client's name, without her knowledge, took the money for themselves, never performed any construction, and sold her house to a third party who began eviction proceedings against her. After a year of intense litigation, the MSK team restored the client to her home, had the pre-fraud mortgage removed and the unpaid property taxes paid, and got a handsome monetary settlement for the client, too. The judge repeatedly complimented both the quality and importance of our work in this case.
