A View of the Copyright Office: Former General Counsel Debate the AI Report

Copyright Society 2025 Annual Meeting

Cambridge, Maryland
June 6, 2025

Aaron Moss is moderating the panel, "A View of the Copyright Office: Former General Counsel Debate the AI Report," at the Copyright Society 2025 Annual Meeting on June 6, 2025.

About the panel...

This session was originally slated for the Register of Copyrights to present “A View from the Copyright Office.” In light of recent events, we’re pivoting to Plan B. The AI and fair use report that Register Perlmutter helped shepherd will now serve as the springboard for a spirited conversation about copyright in the age of generative AI. Joining the debate are two former General Counsel of the Copyright Office: Regan Smith, SVP and General Counsel at the News/Media Alliance, and Sy Damle, partner and Vice Chair of the Artificial Intelligence Practice at Latham & Watkins. The session will be moderated by Aaron Moss, partner at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp and author of Copyright Lately.
