MSK Partner and counsel for the Coalition for Online Accountability, Steven Metalitz was among the expert panelists at a May 4, 2011 hearing of the House Subcommittee on "Intellectual Property, Competition and the Internet" regarding an Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) plan to enable a substantial increase in the number of generic top-level domains (gTLDs). Suggesting the new gTLDs would "create opportunity for abuse and fraud," Metalitz wondered whether ICANN has "built in enough protections."
