Legal Expertise
Derrick Fong-Stempel represents employers in a wide range of labor and employment matters, with a focus on aligning legal strategies with clients’ broader business goals. His practice includes defending management in wage and hour class actions, PAGA claims, pay equity disputes, and claims involving wrongful termination, harassment, and discrimination under California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA).
In addition to litigation, Derrick provides day-to-day counsel to employers on workplace compliance and policy development. He drafts employee handbooks and tailored workplace policies that reflect each client’s specific operational needs and evolving legal obligations. He also advises on executive compensation issues, including restrictive covenants and equity arrangements, as well as OSHA compliance, workforce restructuring, and state and federal WARN Act matters.
