ATTORNEYS
Jane G. Stevens

Legal Expertise

Over the course of the past 33 years, Jane has represented corporate and individual clients in a broad spectrum of litigation disputes, acting as lead counsel in jury and non-jury cases and in complex arbitrations and appraisal proceedings.  She has extensive experience in contract, copyright and other disputes in the music, theatre, recording and film industries.

Jane has litigated for and counseled major and independent record labels and music publishers, a leading performing rights collection society, filmmakers, composers, recording artists, as well as other individuals, in connection with their intellectual property rights, including rights in emerging technologies.  She has litigated numerous management disputes for high-profile clients.  Her representation of a music publisher resulted in a seminal New York case holding that music publishers owe no fiduciary duty to songwriters.

In the general commercial context, Jane has litigated issues arising out of corporate acquisitions, employment disputes, and recently represented investors in an action by the Trustee of a liquidating hedge fund to claw back profits.  In the insurance context, she served as co-lead insurance counsel in the highly complex multi-year appraisal of the property and rental losses sustained on September 11, 2001 by the leaseholders of the World Trade Center involving claims in excess of $7 billion.
